Hello everyone! I hope you are all well. Sadly, we have come to the end of our semester, and I wanted to say goodbye to you all. As I pen down my final blog post for this course, I find myself immersed in a whirlwind of emotions like gratitude, nostalgia, and a sense of accomplishment. This journey has been a rollercoaster of experiences, pushing me to explore the depths of technology and its integration into language teaching. As I bid farewell, let's reflect on the strengths, weaknesses, and valuable lessons learned along the way.
In my opinion, one of the course's strengths is its emphasis on practical learning. It provides opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, teaching us how to incorporate different technologies into our educational practices. However, I believe some tasks lacked clarity in instructions, I sometimes had a difficult time understanding what our instructor wanted.
Well, for me, the easiest part was the design process of the tasks. Although it was time-consuming, I found genuine satisfaction in engaging with and crafting the designs. Honestly, the most difficult part was to come up with the content and construct the scripts for the tasks, but it was all worth it in the end.
My favorite task was the AR-integrated teaching material as I learned a lot about Rome while creating the material. I really enjoyed looking at its 360 videos and it felt as if I was really in there, enjoying the architecture. Well, the flipped teaching material could be my least favorite as listening to my own voice over and over wasn't really that enjoyable. I felt like I couldn't do a great job and it took me some time to find the recording that I was satisfied with.
Moreover, providing clearer instructions for the tasks would be my humble advice to improve this course. For example, the checklists could be given along with the instructions so that students can benefit from them while designing the task and correct their mistakes before the feedback session. What's more, I would like to appeal to the students who will take this course next year: please do not leave the tasks to the last minute and complete them well before the deadline!! All the tasks provide you great insights and doing them only for the sake of the course would be wasting a great opportunity. So, try to truly learn from them and make sure to utilize what you learned during the process.
Last but not least, what I really benefited from this course is that it allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and delve into the realm of technology. I hate to admit but technology isn't really my strong suit. Maybe it's because I didn't learn English with the help of technology, but I don't seem to be doing great with integrating it into my teaching. Therefore, I can certainly say that this course is really beneficial for people like me, it helps you learn how to benefit from technology in teaching. It is one of the courses that every teacher in training should take.
